Fun Fair

Fun Fair

This year's Fun Fair had an amazing turn out! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this event! We attempted to improve the fair experience from last year, and will continue to do so next year.
We'd like to thank all of our amazing parents for donating items, baked goods, and their time to volunteer at the event. All of these components made the fair what it was. Also, we want to thank our sixteen volunteers from Saint James Academy as well as volunteers from other schools. Because of these volunteers, we had less positions we needed parents for. All of the teachers who participated in the pie toss deserve a big thank you as well!
This is a wonderful tradition that we hope to continue upon in the coming years! If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact us at heritagehounddogpto@gmail.com.

Mr. McFarland News

Class Placement

It is that time of year to begin thinking about class lists for the 2015-2016 school year.  I wanted to share with our families how the process works at Heritage.  We begin with teachers filling out information on each individual student.  This is followed by grade levels meeting and determining which students would work well in the same class and maybe who should be separated from each other.  Other factors in determining class lists include academic levels and special programs.  The final component to the process is from parents.  If a parent has a specific request or information they would like to share with us, we ask that you fill out our Student Placement Information Sheet.  You can pick one of these forms up at the office, or click on the following link: Student Placement Information Sheet to download the document.  We are not looking for specific names of teachers, we are looking for your child's learning style.  I do ask that you return these forms back to school by May 13th for consideration.  Thank you for your help with this important process.

Major Saver Limo Ride

Major Saver Limo Ride

Because of their hard work, 38 students sold enough Major Saver Cards to earn a Limo Ride to Pizza Street on April 2nd!  The limo was a Hummer and there was enough room for 20 people each trip.  Mr. McFarland our Principal and Ms. McGonegle our counselor accompanied the winners.

Everyone enjoyed the ride, pizza and soda.  Congratulations!

Library News

Celebrate National Library Week 2015 (April 12-18, 2015) with the theme "Unlimited possibilities @ your library®."

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.

Childrens’ Book Week

Established in 1919, Children's Book Week is the longest-running literacy initiative in the country. Held from May 4 – 10 in 2015, books for young people and the joy of reading will be celebrated for a full week with book-related events at schools, libraries, bookstores, museums, & homes from coast to coast! Show your support for the transformative power of literacy by visiting www.bookweekonline.com.

Children’s Book Week is administered by Every Child a Reader, the CBC Foundation, and is sponsored by the Children's Book Council.

The Heritage librarians would like to celebrate April 13th-17th by offering a “bonus book” checkout during their usual library class time to those students who don’t have any overdue items.

Heritage librarians will be doing a similar bonus book checkout for the week of May 4th-8th, which is Children’s Book Week.

Also, May 8 is the last day for checkout, and all library items should be returned by Friday, May 15.
