Heritage Fun Run

Heritage Fun Run
Our Heritage PTO sponsored a fundraising Fun Run on September 24th to help raise money to go towards field trips, classroom supplies, playground upkeep, and teacher wish lists.
The fundraiser lasted 9 days and each day the class with the most pledges for that day won a party.  If a student collected $300 or more in pledges, he/she won a Limousine Ride to Pizza Hut on 151st Street in Olathe for a lunch buffet.
Over $15,000 was pledged thanks to the extremely hard work of our PTO and all of the parents who helped their children with this fundraiser!  And to all of our Hound Dogs who ran LOTS of laps to fulfill their pledges. (Thirty laps equaled 2 miles.)
We would like also thank these businesses for their generous contributions:
Mike Grann Farm Bureau Insurance
Pizza Hut (151st Street, Olathe)
Pinot’s Pallette
360 Gymnastics

Kindness Week
The Week of October 5th is our Kindness Week.  Our theme this year is "Kindness Matters."  Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to be a part of the KC Club.  KC stands for Kindness and Compassion and in order to be a part of the club, we ask students to demonstrate kindness and compassion everyday.  We will also be having spirit days next week to help celebrate kindness week:

Monday - Dream Kindness - Pajama Day
Tuesday - Crazy for Kindness - Crazy Hair Day
Wednesday - Kindness Rocks - Dress up like a Rock Star
Thursday - KC (Kindness and Compassion) Day - wear your favorite Royals or Chiefs gear.

Donuts with Dads

There was a huge turnout for our Donuts with Dads this morning.  Thank you so much for such amazing support for our school.  Thank you to our awesome PTO for holding another great event.  Thank you to Starbucks for donating coffee.  If we have any dads or father figures that have not signed up to be a Watch Dog, please click the link below to sign-up.  We love having dads here at school!                    http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/2285166400111

1st Grade Bomb Squad Demonstration

Wednesday, September 30th was a fun day!             Mr. Rafols, a Heritage parent and fire fighter, came to school to tell us about his job with the bomb squad.  It was amazing!  He did such a good job presenting that the students didn’t even realize the danger that is involved with that type of job.
He showed the students how the robots work and what they can do.
On Sunday, October 4th at station 51 they will be having an open house type of event for the public.  They will be having fun activities for the kids as well as a display of the robots.  The fire dogs will be there too.  It is at the station by the police department.
